We Are Alter

Our Vision

To see the Spirit moving among us, and to our neighbors, as we listen and say yes to Jesus.

The Story of Alter

We’re called Alter because we believe Jesus is making us new, as we come to the altar, we are altered. Week after week—and throughout the weeks—we gather to remember how Christ’s sacrifice and His resurrection change everything.

Alter Church has been gathering since 2008. Dave and Bri Musser had always felt called to plant a church. Seeing the gap between their daily lives and church life told them it was time to leap. The goal was to do church in a way that was more integrated with the rest of their lives and the lives of their community.

Over the years, our tiny expression of the church has had many gathering places. We started in homes. We moved into the Life Center office building, the Blue Door Theater, The Porch, The Youth for Christ Building, and more. No matter where we went, we always made a point to gather close to where we lived, to be an embedded piece of our neighborhood, and to disciple one another into serving it together.

Ten years ago Dave and Bri opened their local business, Bellwether Brewing Company, as a missionary business, providing a place for neighbors to gather and be known. On Sunday mornings, Alter gathered there until we outgrew it and Dave’s parents purchased the cute little church we use today.

We love the little family God has brought us into. We’d love to have you join us.
